BAND OF HYPOCRITES : MY FACEBOOK RANT

Nigerians would never cease to amaze me. We like to quibble over pennies and split hairs over downright infantile things. There are just too many self-appointed facebook monitors here. So what is the big deal if I changed my dp and replaced it with French national colour?? So I have colonial mentality plus inferiority complex because I choose to identify with victims of terrorism, bah?? Mscheew.
I really don't have time to niggle over puerile shit this evening. Well, an assignment for you, Self-appointed Facebook Chief-monitor: Go through my wall and see my writings and posts about Boko Haram and their mindless and barbarous killings. That should keep you busy for the whole night (Cos i have a lot of them). When you are done with that, you can now come back and tell me who is a hypocrite or a nationalist between you and I.
Meanwhile, see below what the French did when you guys were in your darkest moments. ‪#‎BandOfHypocrites‬
Warning : If you must comment plz mind your language oooh! I'm taking no prisoners in my comment threads oooh. I will axe any mentally subnormal commenter, cold-bloodedly oooh! I don't care who you bloody are. Just take your pot-shot to your wall and enjoy your delusion of grandeur there.

NO Bra Day Brouhaha

On a day (Oct 13) set aside to sensitize women on the danger of breast cancer and how to prevent it. I sent a cheeky inbox message to some ladies on my FB list. : “Today is Oct 13. Happy "No Bra" day !! Hope you would set your "twins" free today. Today..! Just today !!! Winks winks** “ A lady, who, probably just saw the message, today, 17-10-2015, replied : “Are u OK at all “ Irritated at her lack of tact, and understanding of times and poor sense of humour, I gave her a piece of my mind : “Haaaa! Common, take it easy nau. Whatever happened to your sense of humour? Whatever happened to your cheekiness? Life (itself) is too serious to be too serious with it oOo!! To be stiff, uptight, inflexible and wearing straitjackets are never the way to deal with life, my dear. Taking life easy and making jokes and satires out if it are the easiest way to deal with life and its paralysing spells. Have a great weekend, Madam. “

Hahahahaha. Happy No Bra Day to all women.

TO: MR AGBAJE

Dear Mr Agbaje,
No doubt you mesmerized Lagosians through your brilliant use of language during the debates organized by various bodies. You exploited the power of imagery to stimulate “nationalistic” hope and paint a future full of promises. And, beyond the mechanics of public speaking and grandstanding; beyond the eloquence of diction and supreme artistry of articulation that, often leave your audience awestruck and your critics lost for words, you seem to me like a pleasant and affable strong-hearted person who could beard the lion in its den, challenge the status quo and confront the raging monster of vested interest (in Lagos).
Quite apart from all the sterling qualities highlighted above, your acuity of vision; administrative acumen; social intelligence and your high-level intuitive grasp of Lagos set you apart from the other candidates. Also, your bold ideas and venturesome spirit make you a darling of every Lagosian including me.
However, you lost me when you overshot your runway, veered off course, and descended dangerously into the benighted valley of cognitive error. You lost me when you unashamedly began to dance to some strangers’ coarse tune of sycophantic falseness.
You lost me when you latched onto a royal gaffe to sow bile and bad-blood; dissension and division, among Lagos residents. Advertently, you widened the existing fault lines by playing ethnic cards, to win votes and gain political mileage. In your quest for political power and its trappings, you sold your mild-mannered kinsmen (and their ancestral land) to some strangers, whose default mode of thought is GREED!! And, right now, Lagos seethes! Lagos bubbles and gasps for air! This is depressing and foreboding. *smh*
Well, Mr Agbaje, I can only wish you good luck in your “masturbatory fantasy” of becoming the next governor of Lagos. Hmmmm!!!
Eko o ni baje !!!

PEACEFUL ELECTION, I PRAY

Barring last minute change of mind, my mum is going to vote for APC/Buhari tomorrow. I never question her decision or coax her into accepting my idiosyncrasy. And, guess what? I still remain her beloved son !!
Also worthy of note is the fact that, My brother, Fatoki Tokunbo Jerry, is a core buharist. He teases me with "Sai Buhari" chants. Sometime in February, we had a long discussion on politics/Elections. Issues were trashed without resorting to name-calling, feisty jibes or any other socially unacceptable pejorative terms, which are unsightly daily features in the social media. At the end of our chat, he confessed he really enjoyed himself. I enjoyed the chat too, despite the fact that we both clinched to our opposing views and personal biases throughout the long chat. That's how it should be. The lava of irrationality would only erupt and run free when reasoning is unable to tame feelings. Martin Luther King says " we must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline....". Logic is error-free !!!
But, seriously, I don't understand why some people or voters would turn to mindless barbarians (acting by instincts) and homicidal maniacs because of one idealized candidate or a political party. I don't get it. Again, it beggars comprehension that some supposedly "intellectuals" and partisan folks of higher socio-economic status would be seen among these red-eyed, sweat-drenched ill-bred illiterates and crude roughnecks, running around the streets, with gallons of gasoline and cutlasses, like murderous vermins on savage mission.
Well, this is my passionate appeal: Don't allow a brief moment of impulsive action replace reflection. Political leaders of all hue and disposition are friends behind the scene. All politicians, including your idealized candidate, think in terms of numbers. To them, you are just a mere statistic!! You are another anonymous integer !! No politician's outsized ambition and monstrous super-sized ego is worth a pinch of a Nigerian's blood. Eschew violence. Don't be a cannon fodder. Don't be a statistic in the morgue. As a paragon of breeding and elegance, vote and go home, quietly.‪#‎VoteNotFight‬.
Wish you ALL a peaceful election. ‪#‎NigeriaONmyMind‬

ILLUSION

The theater curtain has been opened
Pouring out are the vanguards of change
And the guardians of status quo ---
A bevy of coquettish beauties
Skilled in verbal foreplay
And shinning like a thousand fireflies

They carry idealized portraits of their principals
With pomp and pageantry
And beguile their simple-hearted audience
With gaseous oratory .
They flirt and flatter the delirious crowd
With sweet-sounding words
They inflame their emotions and defuse their tension
With rousing rhetoric that cloak their dark impulses
And hide their daredevil decadent past

Oh, this is a festive season
Season of tall tales
And scurrilous stories
Season of cherry-coloured lies
And inane innuedoes
Season of prophetic sinsong
And chorus of phony predictions
Season of stirring speeches
Encrusted with slapstick comedies
And sentimental platitudes

EFFUSIONS: SOON...THEY SHALL UNDERSTAND.

EFFUSIONS: SOON...THEY SHALL UNDERSTAND.: Mass ignorance. Mass delusion; Mass hoax. Mass confusion;   Mass hypes. Mass fakeries;   Mass flattery Who would slap this ...

SOON...THEY SHALL UNDERSTAND.

Mass ignorance. Mass delusion;
Mass hoax. Mass confusion;
Mass hypes. Mass fakeries;
Mass flattery

Who would slap this man out of his megalomaniac stupor?
Who'd kick smugness out of his confused mercenaries, political hirelings and trained poodles?
Who would tell these obedient automatons of histrionic harangue
That their hemmed and helpless principal is fighting the battle of "appearance" ?
Who'd tell his network of allies that he'd be trounced again...
Trounced again, for his deliberate opacity and lack of forethought;
For failure to climb above religious fray and grasp the public psyche

But they are locked up in their own Bubble town,
They are holed up in their own theatrical world, listening only to their prideful musings and linear internal monologues

Very soon the sentiment embers shall die down and delusion and ignorance shall recede into the far-end of oblivion
Then, lucidity shall prevail
And they shall understand.
