PEACEFUL ELECTION, I PRAY

Barring last minute change of mind, my mum is going to vote for APC/Buhari tomorrow. I never question her decision or coax her into accepting my idiosyncrasy. And, guess what? I still remain her beloved son !!
Also worthy of note is the fact that, My brother, Fatoki Tokunbo Jerry, is a core buharist. He teases me with "Sai Buhari" chants. Sometime in February, we had a long discussion on politics/Elections. Issues were trashed without resorting to name-calling, feisty jibes or any other socially unacceptable pejorative terms, which are unsightly daily features in the social media. At the end of our chat, he confessed he really enjoyed himself. I enjoyed the chat too, despite the fact that we both clinched to our opposing views and personal biases throughout the long chat. That's how it should be. The lava of irrationality would only erupt and run free when reasoning is unable to tame feelings. Martin Luther King says " we must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline....". Logic is error-free !!!
But, seriously, I don't understand why some people or voters would turn to mindless barbarians (acting by instincts) and homicidal maniacs because of one idealized candidate or a political party. I don't get it. Again, it beggars comprehension that some supposedly "intellectuals" and partisan folks of higher socio-economic status would be seen among these red-eyed, sweat-drenched ill-bred illiterates and crude roughnecks, running around the streets, with gallons of gasoline and cutlasses, like murderous vermins on savage mission.
Well, this is my passionate appeal: Don't allow a brief moment of impulsive action replace reflection. Political leaders of all hue and disposition are friends behind the scene. All politicians, including your idealized candidate, think in terms of numbers. To them, you are just a mere statistic!! You are another anonymous integer !! No politician's outsized ambition and monstrous super-sized ego is worth a pinch of a Nigerian's blood. Eschew violence. Don't be a cannon fodder. Don't be a statistic in the morgue. As a paragon of breeding and elegance, vote and go home, quietly.‪#‎VoteNotFight‬.
Wish you ALL a peaceful election. ‪#‎NigeriaONmyMind‬
